WICHITA, Kan. - The Wichita State women's golf team opens the 2018-19 season with the Payne Stewart Memorial on Sept. 10-11, held at Twin Oaks Country Club in in Springfield, Mo.

This year's team is led by two seniors who have made their mark in the program in the previous three years. Senior Laine Evans finished her junior year with three top 10 finishes, including a ninth-place finish at the American Athletic Conference Championships. Senior Gavrilla Arya earned all-conference honors in 2016 and 2017.
 
Wichita State's competition includes some familiar faces, with former Missouri Valley Conference foes Creighton, Missouri State and Southern Illinois scheduled to participate. The Shockers will also get their first look at conference competition when Memphis tees off. Other teams competing include UTEP, Arkansas State, Omaha, Little Rock, William Woods, Murray State, Oklahoma City, Oral Roberts, Drury, and UMKC.

Twin Oaks Country Club features a 6,001-yard, par-71 course. Along with Evans and Arya, junior Annika Chickering returns to the lineup. Freshmen Chiara Arya and Hana Mirnik will make their collegiate debuts for the Shockers, earning their way into the final two slots in the five-player scorecard. Junior Michelle Lederman will compete as an individual.
 
Wichita State will begin play on Monday, with a staggered start beginning at 8:30 a.m. Live scoring will not be available for the tournament, but full results will be announced at the conclusion of each round.
