COLUMBIA, Mo. - The Wichita State women's golf team will compete in the Johnie Imes Invitational beginning on Monday.
The Shockers will reunite with former Missouri Valley Conference opponents Bradley, Illinois State, and Missouri State. Other teams in the field include host school Missouri, Arkansas-Little Rock, Arkansas State, Florida Gulf Coast, Florida International, Fresno State, Mercer, UMKC, and Northern Illinois.
Mizzou is looking for its fifth consecutive Johnie Imes Invitational title, winning last year's event by six strokes. This will be Wichita State's ninth appearance in Mizzou's host tournament, with former Shocker golfer Bryce Schroeder ranking fourth in tournament history for the lowest final round score with a 67 in 2015.
Senior Gavrilla Arya is coming off a strong performance at last week's Coeur D'Alene Invitational, where she tied her career-best with a 71 in the final round.
Senior Laine Evans finished in a tie for 40th, shooting 222 to lead all Shocker players. She currently leads the team with a 73.16 stroke average on the season.
Junior Michelle Ledermann will be on Wichita State's scorecard for the second consecutive time, shooting 233 in the last tournament.
Freshman Hana Mirnik compiled a 54-hole score of 232 in her second collegiate meet and already has a top-20 finish to her credit with a 12th place finish in the season opener.
Freshman Chiara Arya rounds out the final spot in the Shocker scorecard, finishing her first collegiate tournament with a 54-hole score of 238 in the Payne Stewart Memorial. Junior Annika Chickering will compete as an individual.
