WICHITA, Kan. - Wichita State women's golf head coach Tom McCurdy has released the 2018-19 schedule, which will consist of four tournaments in the fall and five in the spring.

McCurdy's squad returns four student-athletes and welcomes two newcomers to the team this fall.

"Our schedule is balanced this year, which I think will be great for this team," McCurdy said. "There are some events where we will be one of the favorites to win and others where we will be going against really tough competition."

Wichita State opens play Sept. 10-11 at the Payne Stewart Invitational in Springfield, Mo. It marks the second straight season the Shockers will travel to Springfield to play in the Payne Stewart Invitational. Next up for the Shockers is the Coeur d'Alene Invitational (Sept. 24-25) hosted by Gonzaga at the Coeur d'Alene Golf Resort in Idaho.

Wrapping up fall play will be the Johnie Imes Invitational, Oct. 1-3, and the Palmetto Invitational, Oct. 21-23. Former Shocker standout and current student coach, Taryn Torgerson tied for 11th at the Johnie Imes Invitational last season.

"This year, we will be traveling to both coasts to play so we'll face teams that we normally don't get to play against," McCurdy said.

The 2019 schedule will begin for the eighth straight season at the Rio Verde Invitational Feb. 22-24, hosted by Western Michigan in Rio Verde, Ariz. Torgerson placed fourth at the event a season ago, while the team finished fifth.

The month of March will see Wichita State travel to Boulder City, Nev., for the Jackrabbit Invitational (March 11-12) and Sedona, Ariz., for the Red Rocks Invitational (March 23-24).

A pit stop in Kansas City for the KC Intercollegiate April 8-9 concludes the spring before the American Athletic Conference Championship. The conference championship will be played at the Hammock Beach Resort Golf Club in Palm Coast, Fla., for the second straight season. The Shockers placed fifth in their inaugural American Athletic Conference Championship behind Torgerson's individual championship.

"Being in Wichita is fantastic since we can easily travel to any region of the country to play," McCurdy said. "We don't have any back to back tournaments during the regular season, so our golfers will be able to have adequate time to prepare for the next tournament, while not missing multiple weeks of class."

The University of Arkansas will host the 2019 NCAA Championships at the Blessings Golf Course in Fayetteville, Ark.
