WICHITA, Kan. – Ten Shockers competed Sunday at the Friends Invitational at Adair Austin Stadium.
Multiple Wichita State student-athletes set personal bests while battling cold and rainy conditions Sunday afternoon.
The men's team came away with five top three finishes, including two first place finishers.
Adam Gauzy won the 400m with a personal best time of 49.29 and
Clifford Robinson III won the 100m with a personal best time of 10.70. Robinson III led the Shockers in the 200m with a second place finish in a personal best time of 22.09, followed by
Richard Sandefur in third with a personal best 22.30. Sandefur ran a personal best in the 200m (22.3) to place third.
Jace Coppoc finished third overall in the 400m with a time of 51.17. Competing unattached,
Aidan Camp won the hammer throw with a mark of 50.10m/164-4.
The women's team finished with three top three finishes, including two event champions.
Tyra Bickham led the Shockers in the discus throw winning the event with a mark of 47.76m/156-8 and redshirt freshman
Amanda Kakoulias won the shot put equaling her personal best of 13.19m/43-3.25. Redshirt junior
Meagan Williams finished second in the hammer throw with a mark of 44.49m/145-11. Competing unattached,
Alex Adams finished third in the discus (36.61m/120-1) and hammer throw (44.30m/145-4).
Camryn Slatten, competing unattached, ran a personal best in the 1500 (5:08.32) to finish eighth overall.
The Shockers will host the K.T. Woodman beginning Tuesday with the decathlon and heptathlon. The Distance carnival is set for Friday evening.
