Shockers Complete First Round of Palmetto Intercollegiate

KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. - The Wichita State women's golf team finished the first round of the Palmetto Intercollegiate on Sunday.

The Shockers compiled a team score of 308 and are currently in 13th in the team standings. Wichita State currently leads Marshall, Xavier, Charleston Southern, Elon and Western Carolina.  

Senior Laine Evans completed the first round with a 76, putting herself in a tie with senior Gavrilla Arya for 36th.

Junior Michelle Ledermann shot a 76 and tied with Arya and Evans for 36th while freshman Hana Mirnik finished the first 18 holes with an 80. Junior Annika Chickering finished in a tie for 65th with Mirnik after shooting an 80 in the first round.

Host institution College of Charleston leads the team standings after a 284 outing, leading Kansas by nine strokes. The Shockers only trail College of Charleston (B) by one stroke and Eastern Kentucky by two after the first day.

Wichita State continues the Palmetto Intercollegiate on Monday with the second round starting at 8:30 a.m. CT (9:30 ET). Live scoring will be available at www.golfstat.com. Updates throughout the tournament will be available on the women's golf team's Twitter @goshockerswglf.
