WSU Completes Day One of Qualifying at All-Americans

TULSA, Okla. – Three Shockers finished day one of qualifying Monday at the ITA All-American Championships in Tulsa.
 
Eddie Stoica and Marius Frosa earned the qualifying bid in doubles, and took on California's Ben Draper and Jack Molloy at the Case Tennis Center. It was a fight in the first set, where both teams pushed to a tiebreaker. Frosa and Stoica fell behind early in the tiebreaker, but rallied to cut the deficit to two. Molloy and Draper won the final two points to claim the set. Stoica and Frosa hung around early in the second, before falling 6-4.
 
Haru Inoue and Frosa suffered first-round losses in the qualifying draw. Inoue took on (9-16 seed) Richard Ciamarra of Notre Dame. Inoue fell in the first set 6-0, and battled the No. 88-ranked singles player in ITA in the second set, before falling, 6-3.
 
Frosa battled Malik Bhatnagar of LSU, falling in straight sets (6-4, 7-5). The match was tight, before Bhatnagar pulled away at the end in both sets.
 
Frosa and Inoue will compete in tomorrow's back draw with time TBA.
