MANHATTAN, Kan. -- Wichita State's partial squad secured six first-place finishes at the Steve Miller Open Friday in Ahearn Field House as the final tune up prior to the Missouri Valley Indoor Track and Field championship next week.
On the men's side,
Sean Curran won the 800 meters in 1:57.20 and
Jacob James won the 60 meter hurdles in 8.37.
On the women's side,
Annette Hodges won the triple jump (11.48m/37-8),
Natalie Halfman won the 400 meters (57.31),
Kelsey Slawson won the shot put (14.53m/47-8) and
Alesa Frey won the pole vault (3.91m/12-10).
Zach Loesch was second in the shot put (17.29m/56-8.75) and
Tyler Knight was third in the pole vault (4-90m/16-0.75).
In addition,
Meagan Williams was second to Slawson in the shot put (13.51m/44-4), while
Addy Moser was second to Hodges in the triple jump (11.19m/36-8.5).
Wichita State is next in action at the Missouri Valley Conference Indoor Championship Feb. 25-26, in Cedar Falls, Iowa.
