MARSHALL ON...

..success against Baylor's zone compared to Notre Dame's:
"We just did a better job of attacking the middle. We got the ball below the foul line ot the baseline. [Baylor's zone] is more like a 1-3-1. You have to get the ball to the short-corner and the corners. We did a good job of dribble to pass and we made more jumpers."

...Austin Reaves'  stellar performance in last three minutes of the Baylor game:
"Those are the things that he can do. He really passes the ball well. He shoots free throws at a high clip. He's pretty tough, even though he's got a frail body. Its good to see him have some success after not having the same success against Notre Dame. He's a good player, and he really cares about winning and losing and helping his teammates."

...what he learned about his team against Baylor:
"I don't think I learned anything. I've been around these guys for awhile now. This is a veteran group. We still have the gritty determination that you need to have to win at a place like Baylor on the road. The resolve, the toughness, the ability to make shots and plays. It was a great basketball game. I just watched it again, and broke it down. We're showing the team the second half today. Both teams competed at a really high level and there were a good players out there. It was a marquee match-up in the pre-conference part of the schedule. They are coming back to our place next year. We have several of those, we have another one coming up Saturday( at Oklahoma State)."

..if he was impressed by anything on film after he watched the game again:
"It was a really high-quality basketball game, really hard fought. I thought we played well. I don't know how Scott thinks his team played, but I thought we played very well which we had to do to win there. "

...the veteran leadership in a close road game against quality opponent like Baylor:
"Every time they made their push, we had an answer. They have good players, and they are going to make baskets and get to the foul line, and they did. But every time they got close, we responded in a positive way. We executed something, we knocked down a big shot, we found a way to regain the lead or extend the lead."

...Summit League Player of the Year, Mike Daum:
"He's like Larry Bird. He's a fantastic player, and he's probably going to play in the NBA. I just think he is a tremendous talent, very versatile. He has great skill, great touch and good size. He and Tellinghuisen- the other forward, 6'7 guy who really shoots it at over 40-percent from three. Those guys are really good players."

...success against South Dakota State last year, winning 89-67 at Charles Koch Arena:
"We did a good job against him (Daum), in particular. I think we had a good game plan going in. They've changed though. They have more bodies-more weapons-more athletic. They are playing man-to-man, which last year they were strictly 1-3-1.

..what makes this team so good against man-to-man defenses:
"Hopefully we run good stuff, but more importantly we've got good players - and we have a lot of them. It's hard to take away one or two guys -  you still have a couple guys out there that can hurt you at any given moment. That's just talent and depth and guys have ability."

...spreading around defense on Daum:
"It'll take the whole team to stop him. He is very talented, can score in a multitude of ways. We have to be locked in, we are going to be locked in for great team defense."
