Shocker Multi-Athletes Start Season Thursday

WICHITA, Kan. –
Wichita State's track and field multi-athletes open the season Thursday and Friday at the Wichita State Shocker Multi competition at the Heskett Center indoor track and field facility.
 
The men's field will consist of top seeds All-American Hunter Veith, second seed Ben Johnson and third seed competing unattached Kaden Griffin. Redshirt freshmen Jake Horsch and Lucas Shaffer will be competing for Wichita State as well.
 
Veith won the Missouri Valley Conference championship in the Heptathlon last year with a school record 5,813 points and placed ninth at the NCAA Indoor Championships scoring 5,760 points.  Johnson set a personal best 5,304 points to earn all-conference honors finishing second place and Griffin placed fourth with a personal best score of 5,059.
 
Competing for the Shocker women in the pentathlon will be redshirt freshman Kendra Henry seeded fourth with a personal best 3,244 points and seeded sixth redshirt junior Carlea Miles with a personal best 3,114.
 
Last year former Shocker Nikki Larch-Miller won the Shocker Multi pentathlon with 3,888 points, fellow former Shockers Gavyn Yetter placed second with a score of 3,865 and Marteisha Caines rounded out the top three with 3,717 points.

Day 1 of the Shocker Multi will begin Thursday Nov. 30, 12:00 P.M., starting with the men's 60m, long jump, shot put and high jump portion of the men's heptathlon. Day 2 will begin Friday Dec. 1, 12:00 P.M., starting with the men's 60m hurdles, pole vault and 1000m portion of the men's heptathlon, followed with the women's pentathlon of 60m hurdles, high jump, shot put, long jump and 800m.

  • Admission is free to the public.
  • Parking will be available near the South entrance of the Heskett Center, parking places marked with red reserve signs are reserved 24 hours a day, and vehicles will be towed at owner's expense.
