The Jayhawks are 20-31-1 overall and 6-14 in the Big 12. Wins this season have come against Northern Colorado twice, Utah, North Dakota, Saint Louis, Purdue, Murray State, No. 16 Missouri State, Benedictine, Baylor, Baker, No. 6 TCU, Omaha, Texas, Wichita State, Samford, Oklahoma twice, and Kansas State. Losses have come against Little Rock, Utah, No. 5 Oregon State twice, BYU three times, Murray State, Stanford three times, West Virginia twice, Baylor twice, No. 16 Missouri State, No. 6 TCU twice, Texas twice, Samford twice, Nebraska, Oklahoma, No. 19 Minnesota twice, No. 8 Texas Tech three times and Kansas State twice. As a team, they are hitting .283 with a team ERA of 6.18 and a .966 fielding percentage. They are led offensively by Michael Tinsley who is hitting .392 with 15 doubles, two triples, two home runs, 40 RBI and nine stolen bases. KU is led by head coach Ritch Price.

Series History vs. the Jayhawks
Wichita State leads the overall series with Kansas 42-33.  The Shockers also lead the series in Wichita, 22-16.  

Last Meeting vs. KU
The last meeting between the two teams was April 19, 2016, in Lawrence, Kan. Kansas won the game 9-3. Trey Vickers led the Shockers going 4-for-4 with a RBI, while Ryan Tinkham went 2-for-3 with two RBI. Starter Connor Lungwitz took the loss.

Vickers Streaking
Sophomore shortstop Trey Vickers has been on fire over the past 16 games for the Shockers. He is 26-for-57 (.456) with 10 runs, three doubles, a home run, 10 RBI and two sacrifice hits over his last 16 games. He had a career-high four hits on April 19 at Kansas as he went 4-for-4. He has raised his overall batting average to .324.

Nine for Jenista
Freshman first baseman Greyson Jenista is currently on a season-best nine-game hitting streak. During the streak, he is 14-for-39 (.359) with nine runs, one double, five RBI, three walks, a sacrfice fly, a sacrifice hit and a stolen base.

Young Has Big Week for the Shocks
Travis Young led the Shockers to two wins last week including a win over No. 25 Creighton. For the week, he went 7-for-13 (.538) with two runs, one home run, eight RBI, one walk, one sacrifice hit and one stolen base. On Tuesday against the Bluejays, he went 3-for-4 with a run and two RBI. With the score tied 2-2, his RBI single in the fourth put the Shockers up 3-2 and WSU went on to win the game 7-3. On Friday at Illinois State, he came in as a late inning pinch hitter and he walked and laid down a sacrifice bunt. On Saturday at ILS, he went 2-for-6 with a run, four RBI and a grand slam. It was his first career home run and it brought the Shockers within 12-10 in a game WSU eventually won. On Sunday against the Redbirds, he went 2-for-3 with two RBI and a stolen base. With his performance over the last week, he raised his batting average to .310.
 
Williams Putting Out Fires
Chase Williams made an appearance in all four games last week for Wichita State out of the bullpen. He pitched 3.1 shutout innings and allowed just one hit with one walk and four strikeouts. On Tuesday against No. 25 Creighton, he pitched 0.2 innings and came into the game with runners on first and third in the top of the seventh with one out and the Shockers clinging to a 4-2 lead. He struck out the first batter he faced and got out of the inning with no runs allowed after a groundout. In game one at Illinois State, he pitched 0.2 innings with a strikeout and in game two he pitched one inning with one strikeout. In the finale, he also pitched one inning and allowed one hit with a strikeout. For the week, he inherited four runners on base and he did not allow a single one to score.
 
Nine-Run Comeback
On Saturday at Illinois State, Wichita State trailed 12-3 after six innings and scored 12 runs over the final three innings to win 15-12. They used a seven-run seventh-inning to pull back into the game at 12-10. That inning was highlighted by a Travis Young grand slam, his first career home run. The Shockers added one in the eighth to pull within 12-11 and tied it at 12 on a RBI single by Chase Rader in the ninth. Luke Ritter followed with a three-run home run in the ninth to put WSU up 15-12 to complete the comeback win. The last time the Shockers came back from a deficit of eight or more runs to win was April 22, 2006 against Bradley. The Shockers were down eight runs in that game11-3 after three innings and down 12-4 after five innings. WSU scored 10 runs in the bottom of the sixth to take a 14-12 lead and went on to win the game 19-13. That sixth inning was highlighted by a grand slam from Damon Sublett.
 
Clearing the Bases
With Travis Young's grand slam on Saturday at Illinois State, Wichita State has now hit four grand slams this season. Ryan Tinkham hit one against Sam Houston State, Chase Rader hit one against Oral Roberts and Zach Reding hit one against Indiana State. It was Young's first career home run. The four grand slams are the most by the Shockers since the 2010 team hit five.
 
Win vs. the Jays
Wichita State met Creighton on Tuesday night for the first time since the former rival left the Missouri Valley Conference after the 2013 season for the Big East. The Shockers fell behind early 2-0, but tied it with two runs in the bottom of the third. WSU took the lead 3-2 on a RBI single from Travis Young in the fourth and increased the lead to 7-2 after a three-run seventh inning. The Shockers defeated the No. 25 Bluejays 7-3.
