WICHITA, Kan. – Two Wichita State men's golf student-athletes have been named to the Missouri Valley Conference Scholar-Athlete team. Junior
Alec Heinen and sophomore
Grant Bennett were both named to the first team.
Heinen, a junior from Edmond, Okla., has a 3.81 cumulative grade-point average in accounting. He finished tied for 26
th at the Missouri Valley Conference championship and has a stroke average of 74.1 going into the NCAA Tournament. He shot a low round of 70 at the Wolverine Intercollegiate and at the Ram Masters Invitational. He finished with a low 54-hole score of 213 at the Desert Shootout. He finished in the top-20 two times and is a member of the AD's honor roll.
Bennett, a sophomore from Prosper, Texas, has a 3.44 grade-point average in sport management. He finished third at the Missouri Valley Conference championship and has a stroke average of 72.3 going into the NCAA Tournament. He shot a low round of 67 at the Wolverine Intercollegiate and also finished that tournament with a low 54-hole score of 208. He finished in the top-10 six times and in the top-20 nine times and had six rounds in the 60s. He was named Valley Golfer of the Week twice and is a member of the AD's honor roll.
The Shockers are next in action on May 14-16 at the NCAA Tournament in San Diego, Calif.
