Personal Development

Freshmen/Sophomore Event
Freshmen discuss leadership and what they would like to learn from Seniors, while seniors separately discuss leadership and the culture that they want to leave at Wichita State. Halfway through the event, freshmen join the seniors to ask their questions and learn from the seniors about what it means to be a Shocker.

DiSC Assessment
The NCAA administers a personality and tendency test to Sophomore student-athletes prior to the event. At the event, a trained facilitator will discuss the results to teach student-athletes how to utilize their strengths, work on their weaknesses, and ways of how to interact and work with others that may differ in working style.

Bystander Intervention
Junior student-athletes go through an information session as well as role playing to learn how to be an effective bystander for different topics such as sexual assault, mental health, and discrimination.

PASS Class
Freshmen student-athletes study the university as a resource for personal development, academic success, and career preparation. Student-athletes also work with university and athletics faculty and staff to develop leadership skills through the Habitudes program.
