TF: Shockers Take 10 Titles in Weekend Competition

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark./EMPORIA, Kan.  --  Wichita State's track and field individuals won 10 combined titles, including a men's-women's 3,000-meter sweep by Ebeissa Nyandwi and Brady Johnson, at the Arkansas Spring Invitational and the ESU Spring Open in the first major outdoor track and field competions for the Shockers this season. | ESPN3 Replay of Arkansas Invitational

In Arkansas, Ebeissa Nyandi won the women's 3000-meter run with a time of 9:51.08, while Brady Johnson took first in the men's 3000-meters in a time of 8:24.61.

WSU's 4x100 meter relay team of Nikki Larch-Miller, Jenny Pinkston, Taylor Larch-Miller and Deja Young won in a time of 45.67. Nikki Larch-Miller also finished second in the 200-meters with a time of 23.72 and was third in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 13.82.

Taylor Larch-Miller took home the 400-meter hurdles title with a time of 1:01.54.

Also in Arkansas, Breanne Borman won the javelin with a throw of 42.59 meters, while WSU's women also got a title from Shanice Andrews, who jumped 12.43 meters in the triple jump. Kelsey Lathrop finished second in the 800-meters with a time of 2:14.91.

On the men's side at Arkansas, Robbie Martinez-Garcia won the 800-meters in a time of 1:53.45, while the Shockers got a 1-2 finish in the 800-meter seeded race from Ryan Hocker (1:52.140 and Ugis Jocis (1:53.48). 

In addition, Kyle Larkin finished second in the men's 1500 meters with a time of 4:03.36.

In Emporia, WSU's men went 1-2 in the hammer, with Taylor Goldsmith's throw of 199-5.25, while Skylar Arneson finished second with a toss of 196-9.75.

Wichita Elite's Matt Byers won the javelin with a throw of 223-7.75 and the Shockers' Aaron True and Dylan Reimer finished second and third with throws of 220-7 and 208-11, respectively.

On the women's side in Emporia, Taylor Swanson finished second in the pole vault with a height of 12-5.5 and Emily Cook was third in the shot with a heave of 42-5.25.
