MANHATTAN, Kan. -- Wichita State student-athletes won six titles at the K-State Open Friday night at Ahearn Fieldhouse in the Shockers' last tune-up prior to the Missouri Valley Conference Championship next week.
Wichita State swept the first three spots in the 60-meter women's hurdles and the men's weight throw, a highight of the meet.
In the women's hurdles, Taylor Larch-Miller, Shanice Andrews and Cassidy Downing ran 8.74, 8.83 and 9.08, respectively, to finish 1-2-3.
In the men's weight throw, Weston Cottrell, Skylar Arneson and Taylor Goldsmith also finished 1-2-3 with throws of 64-1, 63-9 and 61-6 3/4.
Taylor Larch-Miller also won the women's 60-meters in a time of 7.78, while Taylor Swanson won the pole vault with a height of 12-9 1/2.
Also on the women's side, Emily Cook won the shot put with a throw of 45-9 1/4.
For the men, Jacob James won the 60-meter hurdles. Justin scott was second in the men's mile with a time of 4:20.94 and Zach Loesch was second in the shot with a throw of 53-6 1/4.
Wichita State will next be in action Feb. 28-March 1 at the Missouri Valley Conference Championship in Cedar Falls, Iowa.
