WICHITA, Kan.- The Wichita State Track & Field team hits the road for the first time this season, when they travel to Lincoln, Neb. for meets on both Friday and Saturday.
Nebraska Wesleyan hosts Friday's meet, while Nebraska will compete as the home team on Saturday. Both meets will be held at the Devaney Center on the campus of the Cornhuskers.
UT-Arlington and Oral Roberts will also battle the Shockers and Huskers over the weekend.
The meet will use NCAA scoring, which means that top-eight finishers in each event will earn points for their team. First place will earn nine points, while the next five finishers will earn 7-6-5-4-3-2-1, respectively.
The Shockers are coming off a strong showing at the Herm Wilson invitational that head coach Steve Rainbolt was pleased with.
“Overall I was pleased with the way we performed as a team. We had a lot of athletes do some really good things. To have a seven-foot high jump, a 24-foot long jump, a 61-foot weight throw, and excellent hurdle times is soemthing we can build off of.”
With a step up in competition coming at Nebraska, the Shockers will see its first meet with other NCAA Division I schools competing before hosting its second home meet of the indoor season at the Varsity Apartments Invitational on Jan. 31 and Feb.1.
