WICHITA, Kan.- The No. 66 Wichita State women's tennis team
defeated UMKC on Saturday at Wichita Country Club.
Wichita State took an early advantage in the doubles
competition when Carla Venticinque and Rebecca Pedrazzi defeated Eva Dalvai and
Gabby Pintos, 8-1, and Satjaporn Mahajaroenkul and Montse Blasco Fernandez defeated
Amelie Amsallem and Suzan Lisenby, 8-1, to put the Shockers up 1-0.
In singles play, Julia Schiller defeated Suzan Lisenby, 6-1,
6-1, and Montse Blasco Fernandez defeated Amelie Amsallem, 6-1, 6-1. Then, to
clinch the match, Rebecca Pedrazzi defeated Laura Bouet, 6-0, 6-2. Lucia
Kovalova and Satjaporn Mahajaroenkul also picked up singles victories for the
Shocker women.
The Shockers are next in action on Saturday, February 23 for
a match against No. 42 Kansas State at 5 p.m.
