WICHITA, Kan.- The Wichita State women's golf team carded a 297 in the first round of the MSU/Payne Stewart Memorial on Monday at Rivercut Golf Course.
The Shockers, in second place, sit one shot back of leaders Oral Roberts, who carded a 296 in the opening round.
Freshman Alejandra Villalobos carded a 1-under 71 and is alone in second place. Sophomore Meghan Schuetz shot a 72 and is in a tie for third. Bryce Schroeder and Daniela Rugeles both carded a 77 and are in a tie for 23rd. Alejandra Arellano sits in a tie for 57th with an 81.
Playing as individuals, Sami Stewart shot a 79 and is in a tie for 29th, while Madison Murphy is in a tie for 88th with an 87.
Kaylee Benson of Northern Iowa leads the individual scores after carding a 2-under 70.
The teams were scheduled to play 36-holes, but play was suspended in the middle of the second round due to darkness. The second round will be finished starting at 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday morning, followed by the third and final round.
