WICHITA - Four Wichita State University men's golfers were
named to the Missouri Valley Conference Scholar-Athlete Team. Three Shockers were named to the first team
and WSU boasted four of the nine total selections.
MVC Golfer of the Year Rafael Becker headlined the
team. In addition to carding the top
scoring average in the Valley, Becker collected a 3.38 cumulate GPA. The junior from Sao Paulo, Brazil is majoring
in International Business.
Hunter Sparks, medalist at the 2012 State Farm MVC
Championship, also landed on the first team with a 3.28 cum GPA in Business
Administration. Sparks is a junior from
Oklahoma City, Okla.
Rounding out WSU's representation on the first team was
Calvin Pearson. The sophomore from
Durban, South Africa registered a 3.54 mark in Exercise Science.
Junior Tyler Gann was named as an Honorable Mention. The junior from Houston, Texas carried a 3.31
cum GPA in Communications.
Becker and Sparks made the Scholar-Athlete Team for the
second time in their respective careers.
