OMAHA, Neb.- The Wichita State men's tennis team fell, 4-1,
to Drake in the MVC Championship on Sunday afternoon.
The Shockers started off on the right foot in the doubles
competition as Tomislav Gregurovic and Guillermo Nicol defeated Jean Erasmus
and Robin Goodman of Drake, 8-5. Wichita State would drop the next two matches
to Drake, however, and fall to an early, 1-0 deficit.
Drake would take the first two matches of the singles
competition before David Cavalcanti defeated James McKie, 6-2, 6-4 to put the
Shockers on the board. Then, Jonathan Hadash defeated Tomislav Gregurovic, 6-4,
7-6 (7-3), in hard fought match to give Drake the title.
