WICHITA, Kan. -
Katie Armagost threw a complete game three-hit shutout in the Shockers, 2-0,
victory over conference rival Missouri State, Wednesday evening at Wilkins
Stadium.
The Wednesday evening "Pink Game" was the conclusion of the
season series with the Bears after the teams split a doubleheader last week in
Springfield, Mo.
After leadoff hitter Rachel Milnark laced a double to right
field to open the bottom of the first inning Danika Miller laid down a sacrifice
bunt that was handled and thrown passed the second baseman covering second base
into right field scoring Milnark from third. Following a sacrifice bunt by
Sydney Stuever to advance Miller to third, Hayley Temple grounded out to the
shortstop to score Miller and give the Shockers a 2-0 lead after one inning.
That was all the help Armagost would need as she continued
her torrid run over the past 6 games. The junior from Wichita battled the Bears
hitters all evening ringing up 119 pitches. Opposing starter Natalie Rose threw
only 53 pitches through her six innings of work.
Wichita State will take on Bradley in a three-game series
beginning with a noon doubleheader Saturday. The weekend series will honor the
Shocker senior class of Holly Eckert, Hilary Fort and Brittney Osborn as they
play their final home series at Wilkins Stadium.
