WICHITA, Kan.- Sophomore Veronika Blaskova was named the
Missouri Valley Conference Women's Tennis Athlete of the Week today.
Blaskova went undefeated in all competition on the week. In
singles, she defeated Nell Boyd from Drake, 6-0,6-1, and Krissy Lankelma from
UNI, 6-2, 6-1. She has an overall record of 21-11 on the season, including 15-7
in the spring and 7-0 in conference play. She has won ten straight singles
contests. In doubles, she and her doubles partner Delia Damaschin defeated
Gabriela Demos and Manca Krizman from Drake, 8-2. She and Montse Blasco
Fernandez defeated Chelsea Moore and Stefannia Sampaio of UNI, 8-2.
The Shockers continue their season this weekend when they
travel to Omaha, Neb. for the MVC Championships. They will be
the number one seed in the tournament.
