Box Score WICHITA, Kan.- The Wichita State baseball team fell, 7-2, in
the second game of a three-game set to the Missouri State Bears on Saturday
afternoon at Eck Stadium.
Tobin Mateychick took his first loss of the season for the
Shockers, pitching 3.1 innings, allowing five runs on five hits, and striking
out one.
Dayne Parker went 1-for-4 at the plate with an RBI.
The Shockers got the first run of the game on a groundout by
Casey Gillaspie that scored Don Lambert. In the next at-bat, Dayne Parker hit a
single to right field to score Johnny Coy and put the Shocks up 2-0 after the
first inning.
Missouri State took the lead in the third inning. Dylan Becker
hit a two-run homerun over the center field wall that tied the game at two.
Later in the inning, Brent Seifert hit a triple that scored Kevin Medrano and
put the Bears up, 3-2.
The Bears added three unearned runs in the fourth. Keenen
Maddox scored on an Eric Cheray flyout, then Spiker Helms doubled to center
field to plate Dylan Becker and Trey Massenburg to put Missouri State up, 6-2.
Missouri State added one more in the fifth on a sacrifice
fly by Luke Voit.
The Shockers and Bears will play the final game of the
series on Sunday at Eck Stadium. First pitch is set for 1 p.m.
