EVANSVILLE, Ind. - Evansville defeated Wichita State 4-1 in game one of a three-game Missouri Valley Conference series.

Josh Smith took the loss.  He went seven innings and gave up four runs on five hits with five strikeouts.

The Shocks had just three hits in the game, one by Erik Harbutz, one by Johnny Coy and one by Dayne Parker.

The Aces used two hits, a hit by pitch, and a sacrifice to score two runs in the fourth and opened it up with two more in the eighth to take a 4-0 lead.

Dayne Parker homered in the ninth to break up the shutout.

The Shockers and Aces next play on Sat., April 14 at 2 p.m.
