DES MOINES, Iowa - Wichita State finished a successful weekend at the 2011 Drake Invite with Lucia Kovalova and Valerie Brockman winning their respective flights on Sunday afternoon.

Kovalova, a freshman from Presov, Slovakia defeated her teammate Montse Blasco Fernandez in the semifinals of Singles B Flight, 6-2, 2-6, 6-4 and knocked off Maike Zeppernick of Nebraska, 6-4, 6-4 in the finals.  This weekend was the first collegiate tournament for Kovalova.

Brockman, a sophomore from Burgkirchen, Germany defeated Mary McMullan of MVC rival, Creighton, 6-4, 6-3 to win the Singles B Flight.

The Shockers will return to action next weekend when they travel south to the Sooner Fall Invitational, Sept. 16-18.

Finals - Valerie Brockman (WSU) defeated Mary McMullan (CRE), 6-4, 6-3
