Box Score TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- Junior Garrett Stutz dropped in 15 points as the Wichita State University men's basketball team swept the season series from Indiana State following a 70-54 conference win over the Sycamores Tuesday night.
The win pushes the Shockers record to 19-4 overall and 10-2 in the Missouri Valley. Indiana State falls to 12-11, 7-5 in Valley action.
The 15 points by Stutz came on 7-of-9 shooting from the field. J.T. Durley had 13 points and seven boards while Ben Smith came off the bench to add 11 points on 4-of-5 shooting from the field while also adding three rebounds and three assists.
Carl Richard led the Sycamores with 12 points.
Wichita State carried only a three-point advantage into the break (31-28) as the Sycamores matched the Shockers shot-for-shot. Indiana State shot 46 percent from the field (12-of-26), one shot better than WSU (11-for-26). The visiting Shockers were able to move ahead of the home team thanks to a 7-for-8 line from the charity stripe.
The Indiana State deficit grew in the second half as the Shockers made three more baskets than they had in the previous half (14-of-26) while the Sycamores were only 8-of-22, a 36 percent mark from the field.
Toure' Murry had seven points including five from the free-throw line and a team-high four assists for WSU.
Jake Kelly had 11 points off the bench for Indiana State.
WSU returns home this weekend as the Shockers host Illinois State on Saturday, Feb. 5. Tip-off is set for 7:05 p.m.
