TULSA, Okla. - Valerie Brockman won two matches in the
qualifying draw of the 2011 USTA/ITA Women's Central Region Tennis
Championships to advance to the main draw. The annual tournament is taking place
from today to Oct. 25 at Michael D. Case Tennis Center in Tulsa, Okla., and is
being hosted by the University of Tulsa.
Brockman defeated Ekaterina Kondrashova of Oral Roberts,
6-1, 6-1 and Jenny Blackburne of South Dakota State, 6-1, 6-0 to join Lutfiana
Budiharto, Veronika Blaskova, Delia Damaschin, Monstse Blasco Fernandez, Carla Venticinque, Lucia
Kovalova in the main draw of the tournament.
"Valerie played great tennis today," WSU Head Coach Colin
Foster said. "She was aggressive
yet played with good patience and control. We are excited to have everyone in the main draw tomorrow."
The tournament is a regional individual championship and is
a qualifier for the USTA/ITA National Individual Championship, which is held
Nov. 4-7 at the USTA/Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in New York,
N.Y.
