BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The
Wichita State Shockers are in fifth place after the first day of the 2011
Hoosier Fall Invitational held at Crooked Stick Golf Course. WSU carded a 36-hole total of 618 and
have a two shot lead over Penn State.
Notre Dame leads the field with a 36-hole score of 603 and the Fighting
Irish hold a four shot lead over Illinois.
Junior Gretchen Huhnerkoch continues her strong fall season
after she carded a five-over par 149 today to sit in a tie for fourth
place. Natalie Samb and Hannah
Martin are the next two highest Shockers on the leaderboard after they each
posted a 155 and 156, respectively.
Newcomer Hollie Weatherburn continues to impress for WSU as she bounced
back from a tough first round to shot a three-over par 75 and sit in a tie for
32nd place.
The Shockers are in front of Penn State, Indiana, Gonzaga,
Missouri, Western Michigan, Toledo, Illinois State and Ball State on the team
leaderboard.
The Fall Invitational will conclude tomorrow with the final
18 holes. Play will begin with an
8:30 a.m. shotgun. Follow the Shockers
