CEDAR FALLS, Iowa -- The Wichita State women's basketball team (11-17, 3-14) got a good start at UNI (10-18, 8-9) but the Panthers got 21 points at the free-throw line to win its second-straight game, 80-48, Thursday evening inside the McLeod Center.

Three Shockers scored in double figures on the night, including Marcy Sudbeck who lead WSU with 12 points while Daria Frazier and Marisah Henderson who each recorded 10. Haleigh Lankster scored nine points on the night as well. With five assists on the night, Henderson moved into second-place on the school's single-season assists list.

The teams traded baskets early on, as WSU made three of its first seven shots to fend off a 3-for-6 clip from UNI over the first four minutes. The Panthers used a 7-0 run over the next two minutes capped by a Nicole Clausen three-pointer to break out to a 15-6 lead before a pair of free throws by Marcy Sudbeck cut the deficit to seven with 13:23 left in the half, snapping a three-minute scoring drought in which the Shockers were 0-for-6 from the field.

The Shockers closed the UNI lead to as few as four after a Marisah Henderson three-pointer brought WSU to within 17-13, but the Panthers answered with a another 9-0 run over the next two-plus minutes to push their lead to 26-13 with 5:38 left in the opening frame.

UNI would push the advantage to as many as 18 down the stretch, connecting on seven free throws in the final three minutes to fashion the halftime score of 39-22.

The Panthers shot 46-percent from the floor in the first half while limiting the Shockers to 32-percent shooting. UNI was 11-for-14 from the free-throw line in opening frame, and held a 22-15 edge on the boards at the break.

UNI started the second half on a 12-6 run to push the lead to 51-28 with just under 16 minutes left to play but the Shockers would not give in easily, scoring the next five points to cut the Panther lead to 51-33 after a Lankster basket with 14:28 left to play. UNI had an answer yet again however, this time in the form of a 8-2 run to push the edge back out to 59-35 with 11:10 left in regulation.

The Shockers refused to go away quietly, responding with a 9-2 run to close to within 61-44 after a Lankster jumper with seven minutes left. UNI answered for the final time however, using an 11-0 run extend the lead to 72-44, and send the Shockers to their second-straight loss.
