SALT LAKE CITY, Utah - The Wichita State women's tennis team concluded its competition at the ITA Women's Central Region Championship, which continued Saturday at the Eccles Tennis Center in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Torrie Browning was the final Shocker to bow out of the tournament. Browning opened Saturday's play with a consolation quarterfinal win in straight sets, 6-4, 6-3, against Montana State's Stephanie Jasper. Browning then advanced to the consolation semifinal round, where she fell to Colorado's Franzi Jedrian in two sets, 6-1, 7-5.
Florentina Hanisch and Laryssa Ferreira were also in action Saturday. Hanisch dropped her only match of the day to Colorado's Jendrian in a 6-2, 6-2 decision, while Ferreira was defeated in straight sets by Utah's Andrea Maughn, 6-3, 6-4.
The Shocker doubles team of Lutfiana Budiharto and Anna Egorova also bowed out of the tournament, dropping a semifinal match to the top-seeded doubles team of Ela Kaluder and Aurelija Miseviciute (Arkansas), by a score of 8-5.
Next up for the Shockers is a trip to Champaign, Ill. for the Midwest Blast, which is scheduled to begin Friday, Nov. 7
