WICHITA, Kan. -  The Wichita State University cross country teams travel to the University of Iowa for the Hawkeye Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 15 in Iowa City, Iowa. The Shockers will be facing two of the top 15 teams in the NCAA Division I Midwest Region.

The Shockers will face Missouri Valley Conference foe Northern Iowa, the Big Ten's University of Iowa, and the Pac-10's Oregon State. The Northern Iowa women are ranked 13th in the Midwest Region, while Iowa's women's program is ranked third in the region and 14th in the nation.  On the men's side, Iowa is ranked fifth, while UNI is currently outside of the top 15 in the Midwest Region. Oregon State's men and women are both ranked 12th in the West Region.

The Shocker women sit in the sixth spot in the season's inaugural Midwest Region poll, while the men are unranked. Both are coming off team victories in their first meet of the season, the J.K. Gold Classic. The women were led by Gold Classic champion Kellyn Johnson, runner-up Mica Land, and third-place finisher Olivia Martinez.

The men's team was led by junior Scott Reed's fourth-place finish, while Sam Chege and Nick Nowak placed sixth and eighth, respectively, at the Gold Classic.

The Hawkeye Invite starts at 8:30 a.m., with the women's 3K race, followed by the men's 6K race at 9 a.m., at the Ashton Cross Country Course in Iowa City, Iowa.
