Biography

Reed enters his third season as a volunteer assistant coach for the Shocker men's and women's cross country teams.
 
Reed graduated from Wichita State in 2009 and participated in both cross country and track & field during his college career.

Cross Country

2007 (Junior): Ran in six events during the season...Placed in the top 20 four times...Helped the Shockers to a first-place team finish at the J.K. Gold Classic, placing 4th (18:41)...Finished sixth at the Hawkeye Invite with a time of 25:39.87...Was the first Shocker across the finish line at the MVC Championships, placing 18th (25:31.53)...Placed 47th, the highest for a Shocker, with a 10K time of 31:33 at the Midwest Regional. 

2006 (Sophomore): Named to MVC Scholar-Athlete Team and earned MVC Commissioner’s Academic Excellence Award...Ran in all six regular season events plus the Midwest Regional...Was the first Shocker to cross the finish line at each of the first three events including two top-five finishes...Placed third at the J.K. Gold Classic (20:41.15)...Placed fifth at the Missouri Challenge (26:51.51)...Placed 70th at the highly competitive Roy Griak Invite (26:02.30)...Placed 42nd at the Cowboy Jamboree (26:27)...Placed 106th at the NCAA Pre-National (25:55.80)...Was the second Shocker to finish, placing 14th at the MVC Championship (25:54.45)...Placed 86th at the Midwest Regional (33:18.79 for 10K).

2005 (Freshman): Ran in all six regular season races, including the Midwest Regional...Was the first freshmen to cross the finish line at the J.K. Gold Classic, placing seventh (22:23.17)...Placed 12th at the Missouri Challenge (27:08)...Finished in 58th at the Woody Greeno Invite (26:57) and 116th at the OSU Jamboree (27:42)...Was the second Shocker to cross the finish line at the Wisconsin Parkside, placing 19th (26:23)...Finished in 23rd at the MVC Championship (25:32) and was the first Shocker to cross the finish line at the Midwest Regional, placing 80th (33:27).

 

Track and Field

2008 (Junior): INDOOR - Placed 8th in the 5000m (15:05.14) and 11th in the 3000m (8:36.35) at the MVC Championships...Ran a personal best in the 5000m of 14:51.37 to win the adidas Classic...Placed fourth at the Air Force Invitational in the 3000m (8:32.89)...Finished in a personal best time of 4:27.15 to place fifth in the mile at the Kansas Invitational...OUTDOOR - Placed sixth in the 10,000m (30:35.64) and 11th in the 5000m (15:35.94) at the MVC Championships...Placed second in the 5000m at the Nike ELITE Meet with a personal best time of 14:51.51.

2007 (Sophomore): Placed fourth at the MVC Outdoor Championships in the 10,000m (31:11.51) and eighth in the 5000m (15:23.78)...Placed seventh at the MVC Indoor Championships in the 5000m (15:08.40)...Finished second in the 1500m (4:06.38 at the KT Woodman...Placed third at the Kansas Relays in the 10,000m (31:02.97).

2006 (Freshman): Competed in the USA Junior Outdoor Track and Field Championships, placing fourth in the 10,000m in 32:17.49... Placed fifth at the conference outdoor meet in the 10,000m, running 31:24.57, a season best...Finished in eighth place in the 5,000m at the indoor conference meet in a time of 15:31.15...Broke the 10,000m meet record at the Missouri Relays, placing seventh in 32:22.77...Ran best mile at the indoor UNI Invite, placing fourth in 4:30.43.

Omaha North HS: Lettered in cross country and track all four years...named to Superstate cross country team.

Personal: Born March 4, 1987...Son of David and Cynthia Reed...Majoring in aerospace engineering...Has two sisters, Laura and Jessica.
