NORMAL, Ill. - Lisa Jones' walkoff homer to left-center in the bottom of the seventh was all the offense Margo Pruis needed as the senior combination helped Wichita State (37-27) advance in the State Farm Missouri Valley Conference Tournament with a 1-0 win over Indiana State Thursday evening at the Redbird Softball Complex.

Pruis worked a gem in picking up her 23rd victory of the season, in a classic pitcher's duel with Indiana State's Darcy Wood (12-22) who took the tough luck loss, working 6.1 innings giving up just one run on three hits, the last of which came from Jones to deliver the winning run.

The Morrison, Ill., senior was just as good, striking out seven while giving up three hits and walking none in the complete-game shutout. Pruis dominated the Sycamore hitters most of the day, with three looping singles as the only hits on the day.

The Shockers were kept in check most of the day by Wood, until Jones took the one-out pitch over the left-center fence to advance WSU in the tournament.

WSU will take on No. 1-seed and conference champion Creighton tomorrow at noon in the semifinals.
