Biography

As a Junior (2006):
Went 20-13 with a 2.06 ERA, with one save in 38 appearances for the Shockers in 2006... Selected to the District VII all-academic first team and appeared on the ballot for Academic All-America for a second-straight season... Named to the MVC Scholar-Athlete Team... Selected to the State Farm MVC All-Tournament Team... Named WSU Co-Athlete of the Week on March 13... Became just the second Shocker pitcher to win 20 games in back-to-back seasons... Set a new single-season record with 247 strikeous... Her 35 starts were the fourth most in single-season history, while her seven shutouts were tied for the third most in a season... Recorded 600th career strikeout and moved into second on the all-time career list with 611... Posted 54th career victory, good for second on the all-time charts... Her .161 opposing average was the lowest among MVC pitchers... Ranked among the conference top-five in innings pitched (231.1), strikeouts (247), appearances (38), victories (20) and starts (35)... Posted fifth career no-hitter against Northern Colorado on March 11... Moved to second on the all-time saves list with her sixth career save... Recorded a 1.89 ERA in conference play... Averaged better than seven strikeouts per game... Limited opposing batters to just  a.156 average with runners on base... Pitched a team-high nine innings twice, against Houston (Feb. 26) and Creighton (April 14)... Recorded six double-digit strikeout performances... Allowed two runs or less in nine of her last 11 appearances of the season... Tied her career-high with 13 strikeouts against James Madison (Feb. 17) and Northern Colorado (March 11)... Selected to the MVC Preseason All-Conference Team... Named to the AD's Honor Roll for both the Fall 2005 and Spring 2006 semesters... Honored as a SASO Student-Athlete of the Game at a men's basketball contest... Named to the Missouri Valley Conference Honor Roll.


In the Postseason (2005):
Went 0-1 with a 3.50 ERA in the 2005 NCAA Norman Regional... Recorded the loss in WSU’s extra-inning loss to eventual regional-finalist Oregon... Worked four innings in regional play surrendering two runs on two hits while holding opposing hitters to a .182 batting average.



As a Sophomore (2005):
Went 20-8 with a 1.52 ERA with four saves in 37 appearances for the Shockers in 2005... Named an honorable mention all-MVC scholar athlete selection... Selected to the District VII all-academic first team and appeared on the ballot for Academic All-America... Named to the State Farm MVC All-Tournament Team... Selected as Valley pitcher of the week on March 14... Tossed first career perfect game against Valparaiso on March 9, and no-hit Missouri State in the State Farm MVC Tournament semifinals for her fourth career no-hitter... Finished season ranked 19th nationally and tied for the conference lead in saves... Also finished season ranked 60th nationally in ERA, which ranked third among Valley pitchers... Also ranked third in the conference in opposing batting average (.182) and strikeouts with 212, one short of the now second-best single-season mark... Moved into third at the time on the all-time strikeout ledger with 364 and fifth at the time on the all-time wins list with 34... Recorded six shutouts, good for a tie for sixth on the single-season list... Went 9-3 in MVC play with a 1.56 ERA... Gave up just one run in three appearances in the MVC Tournament... Recorded double-digit strikeout performances six times... Posted a career-high 13 strikeouts against Indiana State on March 19... Named to the AD’s Honor Roll for both Spring and Fall 2005 semesters and named to the Dean’s Honor Roll for the Spring 2005 semester... Recipient of the MVC Commissioner’s Academic Excellence Award and was named to the Missouri Valley Conference Honor Roll.

 

As a Freshman (2004):
Recorded a 14-5 record with a 1.74 ERA in 26 appearances for the Shockers in 2004... Named an honorable mention all-MVC selection... Three-time MVC Pitcher-of-the-Week (April 12, April 19 and May 3)... Pitched two no-hitters, the first against North Texas on April 6, and the second against Arkansas on April 29... Started 17 games and recorded six shutouts... Pitched 133.0 innings and recorded one save, against Drake in the MVC Tournament... Surrendered just 33 earned runs and 35 walks while striking out 152... Held opposing batters to a team-best .185 batting average... Went 5-4 in conference games... Maintained a team-best 4.3 strikeout-to-walk ratio... Averaged 8.0 strikeouts per game... Recorded a season-high 12 strikeouts against UMKC on April 27... Recorded four games with double-digit strikeouts... Allowed just four hits in final three appearances of the regular-season against Creighton, Drake and Southern Illinois... Named to the AD’s Honor Roll for the Fall 2003 and Spring 2004 semesters... Named to the Dean’s Honor Roll for the Spring 2004 semester with a perfect 4.0 GPA... Named an NFCA Scholar-Athlete.



In High School:
Attended Morrison High School in Morrison, Ill... Played for head coach Tammy Deter... Earned three letters in basketball and three in softball... Was a two-time member of the all-state team... Selected twice as the Sauk-Valley Player of the Year... Was a two-time conference Player-of-the-Year... Three-time team MVP... Recorded a 56-8 record as a pitcher with 792 strikeouts and a 0.28 ERA in three seasons... Batted .360 as a senior... Recorded 18 shutouts, nine no-hitters and two perfect games as a senior... Struck out 22 batters in a 15 inning game in the sectional playoffs... Helped lead team to two-consecutive regional championships as a junior and senior, the first in Morrison High School’s history... Maintained a 3.88 GPA... Was a member of the National Honor Society and the High School Honor Roll.

Daughter of Gary and Brenda Pruis... Born July 26, 1985, as Margo Jean Pruis... Has one sibling, a brother Casey... Named a first-team All-American at the 2006 ASA Women's Class A Fastpitch National Championship in Broken Arrow, Okla., while playing for the Carbondale Cougars, who finished second in the national tournament... Majoring in secondary education (math) at Wichita State.
