AUSTIN, Texas- For the third-straight meet, Chandra Andrews set a regional qualifying mark, while Tasha Gallegos raced past the mark after completion of day two at the Texas Relays.
Andrews placed eighth out of 24 competitors in the hammer throw. The senior out of Liberal finished the day with a throw of 183-3, her second best of the season. On the men's side, junior-transfer Kyle Becker finished the hammer throw in 17th place, tossing 177-7.
In the women's 400-meter hurdles preliminary race, senior Tasha Gallegos regionally qualified for the first time this season, racing 1:00.27 to finish in 14th place, but not enough to move her on to Saturday's final.
Wichita State will resume competition at the Texas Relays with the women's 4x100-meter relay, beginning at 9:30 a.m.
