Wichita State vs. Arkansas Tech
Wichita State Head Coach Gregg Marshall:“ It was a first game for many of us, including myself, so we obviously had some first game jitters and things we have to improve upon. At the same time, I think we did some things pretty good. I enjoyed it, the guys enjoyed it, but obviously we will continue to work to put a better product out there.”
“ I thought
Matt Braeuer was very good tonight. He was running our stuff well. I thought Phil Thomasson was in excellent position a number of times defensively, took a couple of charges. Those two guys and P.J., the veterans were pretty good.”
“Nineteen turnovers are way too many. They weren't really pressuring us, but we were sloppy with the ball at times, and there are a lot of things we have to work on ball handling wise and decision making.”
“I thought the kids played pretty hard. They have to play harder and more consistently. I thought there were a couple of times early during a transition that we didn't sprint the floor. I thought we defended well during the first half. They only scored one time on our set defense during the first half.”
Senior Matt Braeuer“ I think we turned it over a few times because we were trying to be so unselfish. Usually you know how people are going to be when you've played with them for a while, and this was our first time with everyone, so it will change.”
Junior Ramon Clemente“ I had the jitters, but I will build on it and get better. I've never played in front of that many people in my life.”
Senior P.J. Couisnard“ There were a couple of stretches where we had veterans on the floor and things were flowing pretty smoothly. The new players, the new team and the new chemistry that we are working with will only get better by playing together more.”
