TULSA, Okla.- The Wichita State women's tennis team finished the second day of the Wilson/ITA Region Championships in Tulsa, Okla. The Shockers will advance one doubles team into the quarterfinals after the days play.
Freshman Stephanie Dalmacio and Sophomore Anna Egorova started the day of by defeating Hickey and Palen from Indiana State, 8-3. The duo then easily defeated DaValle and Prochazkova from Kansas State, 8-1. The pair is now in the quarterfinals and will take on Reimers and Ring from Nebraska to advance.
Dalmacio then defeated Amanda Pratzel from Missouri, 6-4, 6-0. She then fell to No. 5 seeded Elizivete Acdeeva from Kansas, 6-4, 7-6.
Sophomore Torrie Browning then took on Yawna Allen from Oklahoma State where she fell, 6-1, 6-1.
Freshman Olga Elkin then entered the consolation bracket where she took on Agostina Santoro from Tulsa. Elkin lost the match, 6-4, 6-0.
WSU will now prepare for the quarterfinals in doubles that will take place Saturday, Oct. 21.
