Wichita State infielders Kinzey Woody and Kammie Smith are enjoying fabulous freshman seasons and they join us to preview a series vs. Memphis that starts at 6 p.m., Thursday at Wilkins Stadium.

We talk about family influence, parental humor, favorite songs and Woody gives us a book recommendation. We also discuss plate discipline, improvement over the course of a rookie season and why the Shockers turned around after a tough series at ECU. 

Woody is a third baseman from Westphalia, Mo. She is hitting .356 with 11 doubles and 13 home runs.
 
Smith is a second baseman from Sapulpa, Oklahoma. She is hitting .384 with 10 doubles and three homers. 

The Shockers enter Thursday's game tied with USF atop the conference. USF is home to play third-place North Texas. The Shockers and Bulls have wrapped up the top two seeds in the conference tournament, which starts next week in Greenville, N.C.

WSU's series starts at 6 p.m. Thursday and continues at 6 p.m. Friday and noon on Saturday.
