4/28/2026 10:00:00 AM

IRVING, Texas — Wichita State's Xin Tong Wang was named the American Conference Women's Tennis Player of the Year, while Giorgia Roselli and Theodora Chantava earned all-conference honors Tuesday, the conference office announced.

Wang and Roselli were unanimous selections to the all-conference team. Wichita State's three all-conference selections are the most by any American Conference team this season and the most for the Shockers since joining the conference in 2018.

Wang, a junior from Hangzhou, China, is the first player in program history to earn American Conference Player of the Year honors. She is the first Shocker to be named player of the year since Giulia Guidetti won the Missouri Valley Conference award in 2017. Wang has been named all-conference in each of her three seasons at Wichita State.

She owns records of 18-7 in singles and 23-8 in doubles, including 14-3 in singles and 13-3 in doubles in dual matches. In singles, Wang has won her last 12 decisions and has not lost since Feb. 8. She also won the American Conference doubles championship with Roselli on Oct. 26 and went 7-0 in singles against conference opponents in dual play.

Roselli, a junior from Pescara, Italy, earned her second all-conference honor. She is just the third Shocker to earn multiple all-conference honors in the American Conference, joining Wang and Fatima Bizhukova.

She holds overall records of 19-5 in singles and 24-8 in doubles. In dual matches, she is 14-2 in singles and 14-3 in doubles. She won 13 consecutive singles decisions from Jan. 19 to April 18, dropping just four sets during that stretch. Her 24 doubles wins are the most on the team.

Chantava, a senior from Grevena, Greece, closes her Shocker career with her first all-conference honor. She becomes the fifth different Shocker to earn all-conference recognition since Wichita State joined the American Conference.

She owns records of 16-5 in singles and 21-5 in doubles, including 15-3 in singles and 16-4 in doubles in dual matches. She won 14 of her first 15 completed singles matches and climbed as high as No. 90 in the ITA singles rankings this season. Her 16 dual-match doubles wins lead the Shockers.

The Shockers open the 2026 NCAA Tournament on Saturday against No. 25 SMU in Norman, Oklahoma, at 11 a.m. CT.
