GREENVILLE, N.C. — Wichita State's offense was unable to get going against East Carolina, losing Game 3 of the series, 3-0, on Sunday at Max R. Joyner Stadium.

Wichita State (11-10, 1-2) was held scoreless by East Carolina (17-9, 2-1) for the second consecutive game of the series. With the win, the Pirates secured the series against the Shockers.

After a scoreless first inning, the Pirates began the second with back-to-back singles and a sacrifice bunt to move runners to second and third with one out. The first run of the game came on a pickoff attempt error, and the second runner scored two batters later on an RBI single, giving East Carolina an early 2-0 lead.

Two more innings passed without a run before East Carolina added its third run of the day on a bases-loaded walk in the bottom of the fifth.

With only six outs left, the Shockers managed just one base runner the rest of the way,
Gabby Scott, but she was left stranded as Wichita State fell 3-0.

Nihart (4-6) took the loss after allowing three runs on four hits with five walks in 4.2 innings in the circle.

Kinzey Woody,
Johnna Schroeder and
Jodie Epperson were the only Shockers to record hits, with one apiece.
