WICHITA, Kan. — Wichita State Athletics is celebrating longtime radio Voice of the Shockers Mike Kennedy at the men's basketball game on Saturday, Feb. 21 against Temple at 5 p.m, presented by House of Schwan. At halftime of the game, a special ceremony honoring Kennedy for his 46 years of service as the Voice of the Shockers will take place.
To help ensure Kennedy receives the appreciation from Shocker fans that he deserves, the athletic department is introducing various fan-friendly promotions to maximize attendance.

Mike Kennedy Night also coincides with Wichita State Men's Basketball's Champions Weekend—an event welcoming back the 1975-76, 2005-06 and 2015-16 men's basketball teams to celebrate the 50th, 20th and 10th anniversaries of the teams' respective conference championships. The 2005-06 team is also celebrating the 20th anniversary of its Sweet 16 run in the NCAA Tournament.
This past November, Kennedy announced his intentions to retire at the end of the 2025-26 athletic year. Kennedy started in his role with the Shockers in 1980. He has covered just shy of 1,500 men's basketball games during his tenure.
