CARY, N.C. – Wichita State's Xin Tong Wang made Shocker history on Wednesday, becoming the first Shocker in women's tennis program history to record a main draw victory at the ITA All-American Singles Championship.

Wang, who is ranked No. 73 in singles by the ITA, recorded the victory in straight-set fashion, taking down Tennessee's No. 19-ranked Catherine Aulia 7-6 (2), 6-2. The win for Wang was the fourth-highest-ranked individual victory by any Shocker in program history, only surpassed by three wins over top ten players by Fatima Bizhukova.

In doubles, Wang and partner Giorgia Roselli did not fare as well, losing to Michigan's No. 14-ranked pair of Jones/Bernales, 6-3, 6-3 in the round of 32 after Wang's singles win, ending their doubles run. The pair will play a consolation match tomorrow against No. 84 Bianca Molnar and Bojana Pozder of Notre Dame.

Wang is set to face California's Berta Folch Passola tomorrow for a spot in the round of 16. Passola is currently ranked No. 113 by the ITA, and beat Notre Dame's No. 44 Akari Matsuno 6-4, 7-6 (3) on Wednesday to reach the round of 32. The winner will face either North Carolina's No. 29-ranked Ange Oby Kajuru or Ohio State's No. 5-ranked Luciana Perry on Friday in the round of 16.
