BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Shockers claimed three event titles, one meet record and one school record on the final day of the American Athletic Conference Indoor Championships Saturday at the Birmingham CrossPlex.

After taking second in the pentathlon on day one,
Destiny Masters opened day two with a season-best high jump clearance of 1.83m/6'0" to win back-to-back AAC indoor high jump titles. She is the first Shocker since J'Lynn Ledesma in 2012 and 2013 (MVC) to win back-to-back women's indoor conference high jump titles.

Hudson Bailey won the second title of the day, winning the heptathlon with 5,295 points. Wichita State has now won the last four-straight AAC heptathlon titles.
Luke Czarnecki claimed the silver medal with 5,178 points.
Rikard Trogen Hedin and
Holden Atwood took fourth and seventh, respectively, to give the Shockers 25 points in the event.

In the men's 800 meters,
Yared Kidane proved why he was the heavy favorite, running 1:47.55 to win the gold and set a new championship meet record. He now owns both the conference record and championship record in the event and is the first Wichita State AAC 800-meter champion since Zack Penrod in 2018.

The Wichita State quartet of
Joakim Genereux,
Josh Parrish, Kidane and
Jason Parrish raced to a podium finish, running a school record time of 3:08.25 to finish second behind South Florida. Both the Bulls and the Shockers ran faster than the previous meet record in the event.

Masters, Bailey, Czarnecki, Kidane and all four members of the relay were named All-Conference for their performances, making 10 Shockers on the All-AAC list.

Eight more Shockers scored points on the final day of competition, starting with three in the hurdles.
Kate Campos finished eighth in the women's final with a time of 8.50, and
Tyler Carroll and
Jaleel Montgomery took fifth and sixth in the men's final with times of 8.03 and 8.07, respectively. Montgomery went on finish sixth in the 60-meter final with a time of 6.81.

Audrey Parson ran her second personal best in two days in the 800 meters, finishing sixth and moving up to No. 8 all-time in school history with a time of 2:11.67.

In the shot put,
Athan Huelskamp threw a personal-best 16.73m/54'10.75" to take seventh and score two points.

Chidera Okoro was just two centimeters off the triple jump podium, jumping an indoor personal best of 12.52m/41'1" to take fourth and move up to No. 6 in school history.

In the 3,000 meters, Adrian Diaz Lopex scored three points for the team with a sixth-palce finish, running 8:09.85.

The South Florida men won their second-consecutive AAC indoor team title with 167.5 points, Tulsa took second with 94 points and Wichita State placed third with 90.16 points out of nine teams.

The Tulane women won their first AAC indoor team title with 96 points, and Wichita State took ninth with 39 points out of 13 teams.
