11/25/2025 11:32:00 AM

TEMPE, Ariz. — Wichita State men's tennis player Zaid Al Mashni was ranked No. 66 in singles by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association in its final fall rankings Tuesday afternoon.

It's the first career singles or doubles ranking for Al Mashni, who joined the Shockers last January.

Al Mashni's highlight of the fall came Oct. 10 at the ITA Central Regional, where he dispatched Arkansas' Jakub Vrba 6–3, 6–4 in the round of 32. Vrba was ranked No. 18 in singles in the final fall rankings.

Al Mashni is the first Shocker men's tennis player to be ranked in singles since February of 2023, when Kristof Minarik was No. 97. It's the highest ranking for the Shockers since 2021, when Murkel Dellien was No. 48.

A sophomore from Amman, Jordan, Al Mashni is one of four players in the American Conference ranked in singles and is the second-highest-ranked player behind South Florida's Hugo Car, who is No. 28.

The spring season for the Shockers begins in January, when Al Mashni will look to build on a breakout fall and carry his newly acquired national ranking into the spring dual season.
