Shockers Come Up Short Against Tulsa

WICHITA, Kan. — The No. 57 Wichita State men's tennis team was edged by Tulsa, 4-2, on Wednesday afternoon at the Sheldon Coleman Tennis Complex.
 
The Shockers (12-8) saw their eight-match win streak snapped with the loss to Tulsa (11-10).
 
In doubles, Tulsa grabbed the early edge by defeating Alejandro Jacome and Felix Bockelmann-Evans, 6-2, at No. 3. Ilias Worthington and Rodrigo Cruz answered with a 6-2 win at No. 2. At No. 1, Pablo Roche Alcaya and Zaid Al Mashni secured the doubles point with a 6-4 win, giving the Shockers the early lead.

In singles, Tulsa regained momentum by taking four of six first sets.
 
Alcaya was defeated at No. 3 in straight sets, falling 6-1, 6-4, as Tulsa evened the score at 1-1.
 
Tulsa took a 2-1 lead with a 6-2, 6-2 win over Cruz at No. 5.
 
Luke Bracks came up short at No. 6, losing 6-4, 6-2, extending Tulsa's advantage to 3-1.
 
At No. 4, Milushev battled to a three-set win, 6-4, 2-6, 6-0, to earn the Shockers' lone singles point.
 
Tulsa secured the match with a 4-6, 6-1, 6-4 win at No. 1 over Worthington.
 
Up next
The Shockers will celebrate Senior Day when they host Virginia Commonwealth on Friday, March 27, at 1 p.m. CT at the Sheldon Coleman Tennis Complex.
