Wichita State travels to Tampa, Fla., for the American Championship, Nov. 21-23. The Shockers are the No. 5 seed and will face No. 4 seed North Texas at 12:30 p.m. CT on Fri., Nov. 21.

SCENE SETTERS    
•Wichita State is coming off a 1-1 weekend after falling to conference champion Rice in three sets on Friday and winning at Temple in four sets on Sunday.
•The Shockers are making their 23rd conference tournament appearance overall and second in the American.
•WSU is 24-17 overall in conference tournament action and 3-0 in the American Championship.
•The Shockers have won five conference tournament championships overall with four in the Missouri Valley Conference (2004, 2013, 2015, 2016) and one in the American (2024).
•Wichita State leads the series with North Texas 11-7. The Mean Green won the only meeting this season between the two teams in five sets in Wichita.
•North Texas has won the last three meetings against the Shockers, all in five sets.
•WSU is 5-1 on neutral floors this season.
•Redshirt senior Brooklyn Leggett has been named to the American Conference first team, while junior Sydney Dunning has been named to the second team.
•Redshirt senior right side hitter Brooklyn Leggett had a streak of 14 matches with 10 or more kills snapped on Nov. 2 at South Florida. She collected her 500th kill as a Shocker in the Oct. 19 match at Rice.
•Redshirt junior libero Gabi Maas had her first career double-double at Florida Atlantic on Oct. 31. She finished the match with 20 digs and a career-high 10 assists.
•With the win at USF on Nov. 2, the Shockers clinched a spot in the American Championship Nov. 21-23 in Tampa, Fla.
•The Shockers finished the non-conference portion of their schedule with an 8-4 record. 
•WSU had 2,681 fans in attendance at the Kansas match on Sept. 16. It was the largest home attendance since 2023.
•The Shockers tied a program record by allowing just four points in the first set against Tennessee Tech on Sept. 11.
•The Shockers are coming off an 18-14 season in 2024 that culminated in a dominant run to the American Conference Tournament championship and an appearance in the NCAA Tournament. 
•The Shockers appeared in the NCAA Tournament for the 12th time overall and the first since 2017.
•The Shockers were picked third in the American Conference preseason poll. Rice was tabbed as the conference's preseason favorite, garnering nine first place votes to South Florida's four. Brooklyn Leggett was named preseason all-conference.
•Wichita State returns three starters and the libero from the 2024 team including senior outside hitters Brooklyn Leggett and Emerson Wilford, junior middle blocker Maddie Wilson and senior libero Katie Galligan. 
•Head coach Chris Lamb is in his 26th season at the helm of the Shockers. Known affectionately as "Lambo," the veteran head coach owns a career record of 544-260, good for a .678 winning percentage and the most wins in the American Conference.

LEGGETT & DUNNING NAMED ALL-CONFERENCE    
•Wichita State volleyball student-athletes Brooklyn Leggett and Sydney Dunning have been named to the American all-conference team. Leggett is a first team selection, while Dunning is on the second team.
•Leggett, a redshirt senior right-side hitter from Draper, Utah, averaged 3.53 kills per set, while hitting .287 in American matches this season. She also added 1.05 digs per set and 0.78 blocks per set. It is her first all-conference selection after being a preseason pick this year.
•Dunning, a junior outside hitter from McClave, Colo., averaged 3.56 kills per set, while hitting .210 in American matches this season. She also added 0.36 service aces per set, 1.81 digs per set and 0.31 blocks per set. It is her second all-conference selection after being an honorable mention selection in the Big West at Cal State Bakersfield last season.

SENIOR NIGHT    
•On Friday against Rice, the Shockers celebrated Senior Night. Katie Galligan, Brooklyn Leggett and Emerson Wilford were honored before the match.
•This class has an overall record of 80-45 and a 48-22 record in conference play and has participated in one NCAA Tournament and two NIVC Tournaments, won one American Conference Tournament title and one NIVC Championship.
•Katie Galligan has collected 907 digs, 53 service aces and 103 assists in 412 sets played.
•Brooklyn Leggett has collected 653 kills, 13 service aces, 174 digs and 172 blocks in 270 sets played.
•Emerson Wilford has collected 680 kills, 25 service aces, 401 digs and 188 blocks in 339 sets played.

WEEKEND RECAP    
•The Shockers lost to conference champion Rice 3-0 on Friday and defeated Temple 3-1 on Sunday.
•Against Rice, the Owls won by scores of 27-25, 25-20 and 25-17. Sydney Dunning led the Shockers with 16 kills, while Jordan Heatherly had 33 assists and Gabi Maas had 27 digs.
•Against Temple, the Shockers won by scores of 25-15, 20-25, 26-24 and 25-17. Sydney Dunning led the Shockers with 21 kills, while Jordan Heatherly had 46 assists and Gabi Maas had 14 digs.
•In the two matches, Dunning averaged 5.29 kills per set, Heatherly averaged 11.29 assists per set and Maas averaged 5.86 digs per set.

SHOCKS IN THE NCAA STATS    
•In the November 20 NCAA stat report, the Shockers are ranked 49th in assists per set, 48th in digs per set, 36th in kills per set, 90th in match win-loss percentage, 78th in opponent hitting percentage, 43rd in team assists, 53rd in team attacks per set, 52nd in team digs, 38th in team kills and 62nd in team total attacks.
•Individually, Gabi Maas is 77th in digs per set, Jordan Heatherly is 73rd in total assists, Sydney Dunning is 92nd in points, 79th in total attacks and 85th in total kills, and Maddie Wilson is 81st in total blocks.

RPI UPDATE    
•The seventh RPI report of the season was released on November 17. The Shockers are 61st, while North Texas is 85th.
•Rice is the top American team at 22, while the American has six teams in the top-100.
•WSU is 1-5 against the top-50 and 4-9 against the top-100.

LAST 19 FOR BROOKLYN    
•During the last 19 matches, Brooklyn Leggett has averaged 3.47 kills per set and 0.90 blocks per set, while hitting .285.
•She had her streak of 14-straight matches with 10 or more kills snapped on Nov. 2 at South Florida when she finished with nine in three sets. She has collected double-digit kills in 14 of 16 American matches this season. 

WSU-NORTH TEXAS SERIES    
•Wichita State leads the overall series with North Texas, 11-7. Head Coach Chris Lamb is 7-6 against the Mean Green.  
•The last meeting between the two teams was Oct. 26, 2025 in Wichita, with the Mean Green winning 3-2.
•In that meeting, the Mean Green won by scores of 25-23, 25-20, 14-25, 23-25, 16-14.
•Sydney Dunning led the Shockers with 18 kills, while Jordan Heatherly had 49 assists and Grace Hett had 23 digs.

SCOUTING THE MEAN GREEN    
•North Texas is 21-8 overall this season and 11-5 in the American with wins over Little Rock twice, Providence, East Texas A&M, Stetson, Northwestern State, UT Arlington, Louisiana Tech, Arkansas-Pine Bluff, Tarleton State, UAB, UTSA twice, Tulane twice, ECU, Memphis twice, Tulsa, Wichita State and Temple and losses to Drake, Miami (FL), Charlotte, Florida Atlantic, South Florida, Abilene Christian and Rice twice.
•Reagan Bedell leads the Mean Green with 2.99 kills per set, while Alexa Washington averages 5.67 assists per set and Dakota Mitchell averages 3.44 digs per set.
UNT finished 10-18 in 2024 and 7-9 in the American.
•Head coach Dave Fleming is in his first season with North Texas.
