Cortes is a senior guard from Kingfisher, Okla. He is in his second season with the Shockers after transferring from the University of Oklahoma. He started 18 games last season and made the American Athletic Conference All-Academic Team.

The Shockers open the season at Western Kentucky on Monday at 7 p.m. The home opener is Nov. 9 against Montana State at 6 p.m.
