STARTING LINES
  • Wichita State heads to Lincoln, Neb. to race at the Greeno/Dirksen Invitational for the third-consecutive season.
  • The Shockers will race against 32 colleges and universities, including five Division I Midwest Region teams, Creighton, Drake, Iowa State, Kansas and Nebraska.
  • Three of the top five Midwest Region teams will be in attendance on the men's side (Iowa State-3, Drake -4, WSU-5), but Wichita State's top runners will not be in the mix, as they prepare for the Notre Dame Invitational on Sept. 29.
  • A few Shocker men, along with a handful of unattached newcomers, will race their first 8K of the season after running a 6K at the JK Gold Classic.
  • The women will run another 5K race before bumping up to a 6K later in the season.
  • Isabelle Hartnett is set to run her first race in uniform after finishing sixth at the JK Gold Classic as an unattached runner.
    Miranda Dick ran a breakout race last season at the Greeno/Dirksen Invitatiional, recording a top-30 finish to lead the Shocker women to an eighth-place finish without their top-two runners.
  • A year ago, Jacob Meyers ran his first collegiate 8K unattached, placing 28th to earn a uniform spot for the remainder of the season.
LOOKING BACK
  • The Shocker women recorded a perfect score of 15 points, and the men scored 16 points to sweep the team titles at the JK Gold Classic.
  • Lucy Ndungu won the women's 5K with a personal-best time of 17:42.5, while Iestyn Williams was the top uniformed finisher in the men's 6K with a time of 18:16.6.
  • Adam Rzentkowski ran unattached to win the men's 6K in 18:09.3. Both he and Ndungu set course records at the brand-new Clapp Cross Country Course.
  • Jackson Caldwell, Trey Rios and Zander Cobb finished third, fourth and fifth, respectively, with Cesar Ramirez rounding out the Shocker men's top five in eighth place.
  • Sarah Bertry, Lubna Aldulaimi and Miranda Dick placed third, fourth and fifth, respectively, with Jenna Muma completing the top five with a seventh-place finish.
