AUSTIN, Texas/WICHITA, Kan. – The Wichita State track and field team wrapped up a split-meet weekend at the Texas Relays and Friends Spring Open.
 
Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays
On the final day of the Texas Relays, Brady Palen cleared 2.17m/7'1.5" to place sixth among a world-class high jump field. His mark was just one centimeter off his outdoor personal best from last season.
 
Faith Turner, Zarrey Sams, Sydney Johnson and Courtney Wilborn joined forces for the second time this meet, this time in the 4x200-meter relay, to run the third-fastest time in Shocker history, placing 10^th in 1:38.32.
 
Friends Spring Invite
Creighton Camp led off the meet with a third-place finish in the hammer throw, throwing 52.19m/174'6", just 3 centimeters off his personal best from a week ago.
 
On the second day of competition, the women's 4x800-meter relay team of Lea Jerkovic, Jenna Muma, Maria Romero and Abeba Sullivan broke the meet record to win the race with a time of 9:18.31.
 
Alli Burke and Margaux Thompson went 1-2 in the pole vault, both clearing 3.58m/11'9", and Destiny Masters leapt 5.75m/18'20.5" to place third in the long jump.
 
In the men's pole vault, Malakai Schaad and Eli Newman cleared a personal-best 4.58m/15'0.25" to finish second and third, respectively.
 
On the third day, Sullivan broke the 5,000 meters meet record, winning the event in 17:00.04. Destiny Masters (100H, 14.07 PB), Marissa Jensen (HJ, 1.72m/5'7.75" PB) and Weston Lewis (2.08m/6'10" PB) also collected event victories.
