Golfers Venture to South Carolina for AGT Intercollegiate

PAWLEYS ISLAND, S.C. -- Fresh off a strong showing at the Missouri State Intercollegiate, the Wichita State men's golf team heads to South Carolina for the Golfweek/Any Given Tuesday Intercollegiate. Play begins on Monday, March 27 and runs through Wednesday, March 29, with 18 holes each day. The tournament will be held at True Blue Golf Club, a par-72 course listed at 6,989 yards.

Wichita State finished second last time out at Millwood Golf Club, edged by Oral Roberts by two strokes on a back-and-forth final day in Ozark, Missouri. All five Shocker golfers in the lineup finished in the top 30 individually.

Head coach Judd Easterling haas submitted the same five in his lineup as last weekend, albeit in a different order. Blake Lorenz moves to the top spot after a career-best performance netted him a third-place finish, while Michael Winslow and Aston Castillo each tied for 14th. Lucas Scheufler will look to build off a strong final round in Ozark, and J.T. Pittman had the Shockers best individual 18 holes of the tournament with a second round 68.

The Shockers are part of an 18-team field, joining Austin Peay, Central Arkansas, Delaware, Evansville, High Point, Jacksonville State, Loyola-Chicago, Marshall, Northern Colorado, Ohio, Southern Illinois, Troy, UConn, Valparaiso, Western Illinois, Winthrop and Xavier.

True Blue Golf Club is a nationally recognized course located near Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, which is considered "The Golf Capital of the World."

The Shockers are off for two weeks following the conclusion of the Golfweek/Any Given Tuesday Intercollegiate. WSU returns to action with the Hawkeye Invitational on April 15 and 16.

Michael Winslow (So.) – tied for 14th at Missouri State Intercollegiate at +3...did most of his damage on par-4s, with a 4.03 average that ranked seventh-best in the field
Aston Castillo (Jr.) – joined Winslow in a tie for 14th at +3...the only competitor with multiple eagles in the tournament, both on the par-5 second in rounds one and two
Lucas Scheufler (So.) – tied for 26th at +7...posted his best round of tournament on final day, shooting 72
J.T. Pittman (Jr.) – tied for 21st at +5 in Ozark...fired five birdies in a second round 68, best round by any Shocker in the competition
