MATCH NOTES:

Both of this weekend's opponents hail from the Summit League.

WSU faces South Dakota (2-9) for just the second time. The Shockers prevailed last year in Sioux Falls, 4-3, when Natsumi Kurahahsi won a three-setter at No. 1 singles (6-2, 2-6, 7-5).

Omaha is out to a 4-11 start. The Shockers lead the all-time series with Mavericks, 4-1, but fell last year on the road by a 4-3 count. They played that match with only five available players due to a combination of injuries and illness.

After 10 straight road or neutral site matches (six of them against nationally-ranked teams), WSU will play in Wichita for the first time since Feb. 11.

The Shockers are 4-0 at home this year with all four matches coming on the Wichita Country Club indoor courts.

The Shockers (7-8) are 1-6 against ITA nationally-ranked teams. They defeated current No. 63 Nebraska in Lincoln on Mar. 9.

WSU dropped out of this week's ITA rankings after losing three close matches on its spring break tour through Florida and Louisiana.
